WHAT TO SEE

1. Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios is one of the most popular destinations in Jamaica, for good reason. It has everything you need for a relaxing and fun vacation; beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, exciting waterfalls, and plenty of activities to suit any taste.

Here are a few things you should do in Ocho Rios:

Cool Blue Hole:

A popular tourist attraction, sometimes also referred to as the "Secret Falls" or "Island Gully Falls", is the Cool Blue Hole. This is a series of deep, blue-coloured natural pools surrounded by lush greenery and rocky terrain. Here you can enjoy swimming, diving, cliff jumping, and rope swinging into the crystal-clear waters. The area is known for its pristine natural setting and the available adrenaline-pumping activities.

It's important to note that attractions and local names might change over time, so I recommend double-checking with up-to-date sources or local tour operators before planning a visit to the Cool Blue Hole in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

White River:

This is one of the longest rivers in Jamaica, stretching approximately 43 kilometres. Famous for its scenic beauty, it offers various recreational activities for locals and tourists alike. Some of the popular activities along the White River include river tubing, kayaking, and bamboo rafting. Tourists can take guided tours or rent equipment to explore the river and its surrounding natural beauty.

Mystic Mountain:

Mystic Mountain is a popular destination for both adventure seekers and those looking to experience the natural beauty of Jamaica. This adventure park offers a range of adrenaline-pumping activities as well as serene attractions. Definitely a must-visit location in Ocho Rios.

When you are planning your visit to Mystic Mountain, don't forget to check their official website to get the most up-to-date information on ticket prices and available packages; they might often be subject to change. Generally, the park is considered to be one of the more premium attractions in Ocho Rios.

2. Montego Bay

Montego bay is another famous resort town on the north coast of Jamaica. I personally felt that it has some of the best beaches on the island, such as Doctor's Cave Beach and Cornwall Beach.

If you’re looking for crystal clear, turquoise waters and white sandy beaches filled with palm trees, then Montego Bay is your place!

What’s more, the coral reefs near the beaches are home to a diverse range of marine life, making them great spots for snorkelling and underwater exploration.

3. Negril

Negril beach is a famous and stunning stretch of coastline located in the town of Negril on the western tip of Jamaica. Known for its breathtaking beauty, pristine white sands, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant sunsets, this beach is often regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and is a popular destination for tourists from around the world.

Whilst in Negril, make sure you visit Rick's Cafe, a renowned bar and restaurant perched on cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Here, you can jump into the water from various heights; the height of the cliffs range from 2.5m to 12m!

4. Bluefields

Bluefields is a lesser-known destination in Jamaica that offers a more off-the-beaten-path experience. Here you will come across beautiful beaches, lush landscapes, and serene surroundings. It's definitely a place where you can experience a more authentic and laid-back side of Jamaica, away from the more touristy areas.

If you are seeking a more secluded and authentic Jamaican experience, away from the crowds and touristy areas, then Bluefields might be worth considering. However, keep in mind that Bluefields is not as developed for tourism as some of the more popular destinations like Montego Bay or Ocho Rios.

5. Kingston

Unfortunately, Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, is not really a tourist town and has limited attractions to see as well as no major beaches around it. Due to this, many travellers tend to skip visiting the city altogether. Unless you really want to visit the Bob Marley museum, my recommendation would also be not to visit.

WHERE TO STAY:

Montego Bay

Vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, and various all-inclusive resorts. Montego Bay is an excellent choice for those who want a lively atmosphere with plenty of entertainment options.

Negril

Famous for its stunning Seven Mile Beach, laid-back vibe, and cliffside bars and restaurants. Negril is perfect for those seeking a more relaxed and tranquil beach experience.

Ocho Rios

Home to iconic attractions like Dunn's River Falls and Mystic Mountain, Ocho Rios is ideal for adventure seekers and those interested in exploring waterfalls and lush landscapes.
